Monaco or bust for MC2

There are few more lavish locations for an event than Monte-Carlo’s Hotel de Paris, where Australian business group BSL chose to host its recent company conference. The 320 attendees were treated to four days of unsurpassed luxury culminating in an Awards Gala Dinner for which MC2 amplification provided sonic clarity that lived up to the high standards of the surroundings.

Gilles Laguionie from Monaco-based rental company SES supplied a complete sound system for the dinner, which featured diverse entertainment ranging from seventies star Leo Sayer to an opera singer and a string quartet. Set in the hotel’s Salle Empire, the set featured video projection at the central mezzanine level, a full lighting and a PA system comprising Meyer Sound and Heil Acoustics loudspeakers with MC2 amplification for the latter.

“We like using the best quality possible,” explains Gilles Laguionie. “And MC2 audio products represent both quality and reliability.”

SES’s sound reinforcement system comprised four Meyer Sound CQ1 full-range wide coverage loudspeakers for the main room, with four 650-P high powered sub woofers each side of the stage, plus an additional two UPA-1P compact wide coverage loudspeakers on the mezzanine level to provide coverage for the extreme left and right sides.

“We use Meyer Sound systems for medium-sized shows because they are very versatile, have superb sound quality and the fact that they are amplified makes them very good for quick installation. We often work with British companies and international bands and we know that Meyer Sound is very well known by the majority of sound engineers so we’re sure they will never refuse to work with the system.

A combination of MC2 E45s and E25s were used for amplification with SES’s Heil MTD108 and MTD115 wedges on this occasion, but he also uses them for a wide variety of applications on a frequent basis. “MC2 has an intelligent range of amplifiers and with the T Series, MC Series and now the E Series, they have something that suits every application. I like the fact that MC2 is a small, very dynamic company, with the passion to produce quality products, they respect their customers and they’re great people to deal with.

“The E25 was our first choice when we were looking for a light weight amplifier and we had no doubt that its quality of sound was going to be excellent. Now, the arrival of the new E45 means that we’ll be using them for MTD115 racks and the E25 for our MTD108 racks, as the power of each amplifier is perfect for each of these loudspeakers.”
